Preheat Your Oven: 6 Crowd-Pleasing Holiday Recipes

I love to bake, and the Holiday Season gives me the perfect excuse to be in the kitchen and bake a batch of cookies to take to work or a holiday party. I mean, what’s the point of baking if you’re not going to share? Below are some of my favorite holiday treats.

Pumpkin Bakes
To me, it’s not the holidays without pumpkin. So, I am always looking for good pumpkin recipes. However, most of my family doesn’t like pumpkin. (What is wrong with them?)

The winner for my whole family is Pumpkin Chip Cookies, which taste enough like Chocolate Chip Cookies to fool my father and my nephew. The pumpkin makes them extremely moist, so they remain gooey on the inside, and the subtle pumpkin flavor combined with the cinnamon gives these cookies a nice holiday zing.IMG_0032

This year, I will also be making Pumpkin Pie Cupcakes, which have that great pie texture, just on a miniature scale. It’s like having your very own miniature pumpkin pie, which means my mother and I can get our pumpkin fix without having an entire pie left. These cupcakes are also great when needing to take something to a holiday party. They don’t take long and are easy to make.IMG_0042

Easy Party Bakes
Speaking of parties, we all know we are going to be invited to a few, or may even throw one ourselves. If you need to bring something to these parties, here are a few easy and delicious bakes that are definite party pleasers.

Jalapeño Poppers are easy to make with just four necessary ingredients, and I have never had any poppers left over, no matter where I take them. I mean who doesn’t like things wrapped in bacon?IMG_0047One of my family’s holiday traditions is having Sausage Balls for breakfast on Christmas morning. Again, this easy recipe, with only four ingredients, can be baked at any time and is always a favorite.IMG_0057

In my opinion, the best holiday cookie is the Russian Teacake, which I have heard called many names, like Sandies, Butter Balls, and Snowballs. This cookie has 6 ingredients and is fun to make. Plus, when you’re done, they look like little snowballs!


Finally, I have found a fudge recipe for people like me, who love chocolate but think fudge is just too sweet: Cinnamon Chocolate Fudge. Though it is not a bake, I couldn’t help but share it. The bittersweet chocolate keeps the sweetness at just the right level, and the kosher salt sprinkled over the top really gives this fudge a nice flavor that won’t hurt your teeth when you bite into it. Sometimes, I make this for myself, curl up in a ball on the couch and read a good book. No one says you have to share!
