Read More in 2013 :: My Want to Read List

I was personally really excited when we decided to launch our “Resolve to Read” initiative for 2013. I’ll be honest that I was a pretty terrible reader in 2012; I’m always working on writing or researching a manuscript of my own, so most of what I read last year was to inform what I was writing.

2013, however, will be The Year of the Book — and when I sat down to think about it, there are a ton of books I can’t wait to get my hands on, from classics to horror to current bestsellers to YA (mostly fiction). I will likely not finish all of these (I sometimes have a hard time getting into certain styles), but my goal for this year is 40 books. Wish me luck!

Are any of these titles on your Want to Read list? We’d love to see what you’re planning on reading this year too! Share your own hand-written list with us on our Pinterest board for a chance to win a gift card (upload a picture of it to your own reading board and then share the URL with us, and we’ll repin it), or let us know in the comments. And don’t forget, there’s still time to make your own Resolve to Read resolution for a chance to win a $100 HPB gift card. The deadline is Jan. 14 and the winner will be announced Jan. 18.

Of course, we hope you’ll visit your local Half Price Books to search for books — and my guess is that you’ll probably add several titles to your list after browsing for awhile. Be sure to ask the bibliomaniacs on duty for help if you can’t find a certain title — they can search inventory in their store and at all 115 HPBs around the country and ship it to you.

Yay, books! — Kristen

  1. If you end up liking Atwood's Oryx and Crake (and you will, I hope!), try Year of the Flood, the sequel. The third in a loosely related trilogy comes out soon too!
