43 Presidential Biographies: George Washington to Barack Obama

It’s Election Day!  And the biggest headline looming for tomorrow’s newspapers is the pending results of today’s vote.  November is also National Lifewriting Month, a chance for nonfiction writers to celebrate alongside their NaNoWriMo fiction-writing friends.  Politics aside, our nation’s history is full of remarkable leaders who have stories worth documenting and sharing.

Picking up from Bill’s five favorite presidential biographies, here is a complete list of biographies on our nation’s presidents – from United States Founding Father, George Washington, to first African American U.S. President, Barack Obama.  Since 1789, we’ve had 56 presidential elections and 43 different presidents, nine of whom ascended to the office from the Vice-Presidency. (Some more facts to help you to brush up on your American History: 15 presidents were re-elected for consective terms.  Grover Cleveland was both the 22nd and 24th president.  Franklin D. Roosevelt had the most number of years in office).

Who do you think will win the 57th Presidential Election? Will Barack Obama be re-elected for another term? Or, will Mitt Romney be the 45th President of the United States?
