Ornament Sale benefiting North Texas Food Bank

Hi Everyone!

BW (and Kate) here. Today we want to share with you an annual tradition here at HPB – the holiday ornament sale! Back in October, our President and CEO, Sharon Anderson Wright, put out the call to all HPB employees to use their unique talents to create holiday ornaments for the sale. Any medium was welcome; the more creative the better! Submissions came pouring in from across the country. Hundreds of handcrafted ornaments arrived, each one demonstrating the individuality and imagination of our employees. From soda can reindeer & embroidered stockings to Santa cinnamon sticks & a hand-knitted narwhal – we couldn’t believe all of the exceptional ornaments! Outside judges came in and deliberated a long time to choose the top three contributions – it wasn’t easy! In the end, the winners were:

1st Place: Kissryn Munns, Bookseller at the Rockwall Crossing HPB in Rockwall, Texas, Children’s Book Advent Calendar (pictured with a few other ornaments)

2nd Place Lisa White, Bookseller at our Westover Village HPB in Fort Worth, Holiday Creatures Set (above a few other fun ones, including the Andy Warhol Santa print, made by Larry Joe in Corp. Development)

3rd Place Tracy Pellet, Corp. Real Estate/Development, Beer/Soda Can Reindeer (next to some other great submissions, including Becky & Kristen D’s favorite, the Harry Potter Gingerman.)

A few other crowd favorites:

The ornament sale was held at our Flagship store in Dallas, Texas this past weekend, and customers came from near and far to shop for their holiday decor. And the best part? All of the proceeds from the ornament sale are going to the North Texas Food Bank, where $1 provides 3 meals for those in need. We raised a total of $1,753.30 for the North Texas Food Bank through the ornament sale, which will provide 5,260 meals for the North Texas community. We’d like to express our sincere appreciation to all of the marvelous and creative employees who sent in ornaments this year, and to all of our wonderful customers who visited the sale and bought the ornaments for such a good cause. We’re already looking forward to next year’s ornament extravaganza!

Do you have a special or favorite holiday ornament in your family? Tweet it to us, post it on our Facebook page, or tell us about it in the comments!

Until next time,

BW (and Kate)
