HPB Presents: Tournament of Villains 2012

It's mid-March, which means it's time for March Madness, which means it's time for a variety show of bracketology parodies! May we present . . . (drum roll)  . . .  the first annual Half Price Books TOURNAMENT OF VILLAINS (mwah ha ha ha!)

Here at HPB, we thought long and hard about what sort of match-ups would truly capture the spirit of our stores, and we came back to the same thing: What do all epic stories have in common? Conflict. Tension. Obstacles. What is light without dark? What is good without evil? And what good is a hero without a proper villain? A worthy antagonist propels the story, raises the stakes, and does everything in his, her or its power to win each battle. We thought we’d give these scoundrels a bonus round, sans any do-gooders to get in their way – a proper second chance to prove once and for all who’s the baddest one of all.

Voting is now open, and if you wish to play along, here's how the rounds will go:

Round One: Monday, March 12 – Thursday, March 15 (2pm)

Round Two: Friday, March 16 (10am) – Monday, March 19 (2pm)

Round Three: Tuesday, March 20 (10am) – Thursday, March 22 (2pm)

Round Four: Friday, March 23 (10am) – Monday, March 26 (2pm)

Round Five: Tuesday, March 27 (10am) – Thursday, March 29 (2pm)

Round Six (Championship!): Friday, March 30 (10am) – Monday, April 2 (NOON)

So, who's the baddest one of all? You decide. Start voting now!

Too funny! I got a kick out of the Tournament of Villains bracket - but not including Randall Flagg is an egregious oversight! Is it too late for a play-in match??? I propose a play-in match between Flagg & Edgar ('Men In Black').

Will you be doing the tournament this year? My English classes followed along last year, and they loved it! Please bring it on! Thanks!
